May 5th, 2017

Learning the basics on auto parts can prevent you from being stranded somewhere unfamiliar when you find yourself having vehicular problems. There will be certain wearing away of vehicles when used and there can be no exception to this. Sometimes the best solution to such problems is a change in the car’s parts.

Cars are one of the most functional and practical inventions. It has a lot of uses, mainly for transport, but that’s putting it in a very general way. Most people who have driven to work will not disagree when you say that cars are really the most wonderful contraption made.

Like other contraptions ever discovered, cars have its roots as well. Before it was made what it is today, vehicles at first were run on steam and eventually was developed. Cars now are simply great having numerous one of a kind attributes under the hood like electronics and its long lasting-ness. This made car maintenance somewhat intricate than what was done with the previous models.

Car function is not that hard, just drag the wheel to where you want it to go. While that one action sounds easy, the vehicle’s many parts is what makes that act less easy. You get a reliable and efficient ride when all of the parts work in harmony. If it happens that the parts are not functioning harmoniously then car issues are not far behind.

Taking Good Care of Your Auto Parts

While your vehicle can in time bring some issues, many of those issues can easily have been avoided through proper check up. Every single part of your vehicle performs its own work and when something is wrong with one part it will affect the overall function. The services of an expert and great repair garage is then sought.

It’s a fact that most car owners don’t know the things under their car that makes it run. That’s why professional service men are hired. They are known as mechanics.

They are not only difficult to find but can be quite a burden on your pocket. For lesser concerns and dilemma try and take the commendations of the best shops out there and the warranties as well.

There are variations in vehicular parts with one part having many more parts in it. So here are some simple auto parts that you should ask about, they are the engine, transmission, train system, brake system, steering, suspension and tires, electrical, and exhaust system.

The Use of Drones and UAVs in Auto Dealerships, Auto Parts & Salvage Yards

May 5th, 2017

Robots are no strangers to the world of salvage yards and auto dealerships. Giant unmanned machines have been put in use for a decade or two now to squash and reshape auto parts in salvage yards. After the commercial introduction of drones and UAVs, auto dealerships and salvage yards owners started using them to wow vehicle buyers and sellers. They purchased unmanned aircraft to spice up promotions and spark viral social media campaigns. They believed that in such a highly competitive market, using drones is their way to stand out among their competitors.

One of the first auto dealerships who started using drones in their promotional campaign is the Jeff Wyler Automotive Family. In August 2015, the auto dealership announced that they bought a drone with a GoPro camera strapped to it for $1,200 to be used in their promotional campaign. The GoPro camera was gyro-stabilized to limit bouncing and disorientation. Their plan to use the drone was simple but quite genius. They planned to record the process of car delivery to customers, starting from the moment the sales person drives it out of the dealership to the moment when their customers are handed the keys, and hand the video over to them for free to celebrate their purchase of the new vehicle. Of course videos like these were going to end up on their customers’ social media profiles and thus provide the company with free and unforgettable form of advertisement.

Drones can also be used to scan and map large salvage yards. Some yards spread across acres of lands and to be able to manage such a vast space, owners need the help of drones. UAVs are also often used to look for and find auto parts. Using services like DroneDeploy, which is a cloud-based system that feeds your drone a previously charter route to follow, salvage yards owners can scavenge junk yards for useful parts and thus save a large sum of money in the process. They also can inspect pick up locations remotely.

With the rapid development of drones and UAVs, it’s expected that in the near future they’ll be strong enough to participate in auto parts movements and delivery. If Amazon Air Prime is expected to deliver packages to their customer’s doorstep using drones and UAVs in early 2020s, the unmanned aircraft aren’t so far away from participating in movement of larger and heavier objects. They’re also expected to be equipped with scanning abilities to determine and classify auto parts on sight. If equipped with the necessary data capturing parts, unmanned aerial vehicles will be able to give accurate details about auto parts and report them on sight. Drones and UAVs have already been playing a significant part in auto accidents reports, whether in salvage yards or on the roads, saving thousands of lives in the process. Once they become cheap enough for every salvage yard or every county to possess and use regularly, they’ll be saving many more lives, money, effort and time. They will definitely make humanity stronger than it already is.

How to Get Auto Parts For Less

May 5th, 2017

Sometimes things just don’t turn out the way we want them. Or worse still, we get a visit by Mr. Misfortune when we expect him the least. How many times have you prepared so well for a ride only to get stuck in the middle of nowhere because one of the auto parts of your vehicle got messed up?

If you own a vehicle, you know that, it is not only difficult to have a broken car, but also worsened by the fact that it is very hard to get auto parts to replace the bad ones, especially when it comes to the price and availability factors.

So, how do you get good spare parts for your automobile at discounted prices? This requires doing some homework of your own. But let’s do it together.

Determine Your Need: Every spare part is made for a specific make and model of a BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, etc. It may not be compatible with another make or model. Therefore, wherever you will be buying your auto parts, be specific with your order. Let the dealer know that you need x part for y vehicle of make a and model m. Failure to do this may cause you to regret later on. Once you have defined what you need, we move onto the net stage.

Shop for the Auto Part: There are many sources of getting information about discounted parts for your car. From the car magazines, to the classified section of your local periodical, the auto dealers in your locality and the Internet. But the most reliable one to date is the Internet. This is because you could go online and log onto any of the hundreds of discount auto parts sellers, check out if they have what you need (remember to be specific), see if you are comfortable with their prices and place your order instantly.

Compare Prices: You may be tempted to buy from the first online auto parts store that you come across, but don’t. At least not until you have done some “comparison shopping”. The web is full of delicious deals. The main reason being that you can easily check out a company’s competitors at the push of a button. You don’t have to drive down any road or travel any length of miles to do that.

But how do you go about comparing deals before you buy? Fortunately, there are quite a few sites that specialize in just searching the web for sites that sell auto parts and do an in-depth comparison of their prices, delivery, after-sales service, etc. The resulting chart is very easy to understand and lets you know which auto parts online dealers to stick with and those ones to definitely stay miles away from.

Order Your Auto Parts: Once you find a good online store after doing the comparison, log on to the site, place your order for the parts you need and wait for your order to come in.

If you follow these steps you should have fewer headaches the next time you have to replace some parts of your automobile.

The New Norm in Distribution For Auto Parts and Accessories in Ecommerce

The New Norm in Distribution

If you are in the Automotive Aftermarket, you know how the economy has affected the Industry. On a smaller scale trickling down, the way we are and will continue to be affected will be in product availability or lead times. More and more extended delivery dates and availability issues are affecting our bottom line. To help in reducing the reaction phase of this ongoing scenario, putting things in proper perspective will help us to move forward and ease the surrounding tension of our customers.

It is up to the retail end to maintain a level of customer confidence as all levels redeem their stance or adjust to new ways of doing business.

Many Manufacturers are dealing with an influx of materials from their suppliers or “Just-in-Time” scheduling with limited manpower, leaving them vulnerable to shortages, running with skeleton crews just trying to get the job done. This scenario also applies to the WD’s that have to make do with much less, compiled with errors that come from spreading in-house functions too thin with un-trained personnel. A more recent trend on Importation limits is appearing as imports increase to meet the demand.

It is “chaotic” to say the least. Most Manufacturers have resigned to this and offer no excuses; they just do what they do best. Most W.D.’s are scrambling to keep their businesses going amidst the shortages and 1/3 (or less) of their required workforce. They see both sides and are stuck in the middle.

How this could affect your business:

To protect yourselves and your businesses, I would recommend increasing the time allowed for deliveries on each Brand you carry and make the customer aware or note it in your terms. Being aware of the problems that could be affecting you is half the battle. Remember that the Rep.’s you deal with may not have the time to return phone calls or respond immediately to emails or RFQ’s, they may not dot the I’s and cross the T’s, just do it for them, protect yourself by protecting them and things will work out.

It will help to have an alternate plan in place and keep up with who stocks what, or replacement brands defined if needed. Most of the popular brands can be found at stocking warehouses, but they are also trimming down, so never assume. Even if an item is in stock, many are so short handed it may take a few days just to get it out.

Where do we go from here:

The worst is definitely not over, I have seen this before and it will take time to get better, it is usually the bottom rung on the ladder that finds relief last, but it also starts there by making adjustments to ease the blow and maintain customer confidence.

This article was initially written to a group of automotive niche site owners, but thought it may be useful to other Industries dealing with the effects of the economy.
